Prepare Smartsheet connector

The Smartsheet connector retrieves information about users and user activity. Subscription data is not retrieved by the Smartsheet connector.

This connector supports Smartsheet Business, Enterprise, and Advanced Work Management (AWM) plans. Pro plans are not supported because Smartsheet does not provide API access for those plans.

Prerequisites​

To connect to the Smartsheet API, you require a Smartsheet account with the System Admin seat type.

Procedure​

To add a Smartsheet connector, you must generate an access token, retrieve your Plan ID, and the data region associated with your account.

Generate an access token​

  1. Sign in to your Smartsheet account.

  2. On the left navigation menu, select your profile image.

  3. Select Personal Settings.

  4. In the settings window, go to the API Access tab.

  5. Select Generate new access token.

  6. Copy and save the token value.

Get your Plan ID​

  1. In Smartsheet, on the left navigation menu, select your profile image.

  2. Select Admin Center.

  3. In the top-right corner of the Admin Center, select your profile image.

  4. Copy the Plan ID.

Find your data region​

To find your region, check the URL you use to sign in to Smartsheet. Refer to the following table:

Add Smartsheet connector​

After completing these tasks, follow the general procedure to Add connectors.

When adding the connector, you can enable the following optional settings:

  • Enable event activity: Select Yes to enable the connector to collect last activity data from Smartsheet's List events endpoint. If you select No, user activity data is not retrieved from Smartsheet. For more information, see API calls for Smartsheet and Data retrieved by the connector.

  • Show users with free license: Select Yes to enable the system to consolidate and display Smartsheet users with the Guest or Viewer seat type. If you select No, these users are not consolidated and shown on the SaaS pages.
